Is oppositionality to the status quo, agendas/art markets etc inherent to artists groups?

Not necessarily, but artist led groups can give us more freedom to interact with agendas etc on our own terms. Something about playing the game, but with a bit more of a level playing field? Perhaps though there is something about the type of artists that artist-led groups attract... not in terms of art form necessarily more in terms of personality... a prepotensity to activitism for example?
